Doctors Biography

Gympie Central Medical Centre is now located in our new building at 35 Excelsior Rd in Gympie. It began as Marymark Medical in 2016 by Dr Mary Piepers after 22 years practicing medicine in Gympie and surrounds, and a total of 30 years of postgraduate medicine.
The practice is conveniently located at 35 Excelsior Rd (right next to Pizza Hut). There is wheel chair access and comfortable air-conditioned surroundings.
*There is no off-street parking at the location, however there is plenty of available parking nearby.
Dr Mary Piepers graduated in 1987 from Queensland University.
After 2 years of internship at Townsville General Hospital and a year of general Medicine training at the Gold Coast and Ipswich hospitals, Dr Mary spent 12 months in North Wales achieving a Diploma in Anaesthetics from the London Royal College of Anaesthetists.
Dr Mary then completed 6 months training in orthopaedics in North wales before travelling through Europe and the Middle East before returning home to Australia to complete the Diploma in Obstetrics at Redcliffe Hospital.
She then completed a further 6 months in the emergency room also at Redcliffe Hospital before joining the RACGP training program.
Registrar posts in Cleveland Brisbane and Bundaberg followed before coming to Gympie to complete training as a procedural GP with special interests in anaesthetics and obstetrics and emergency room work
Until 2001, Dr Mary worked as a procedural GP in Gympie at both Gympie General and Gympie Private Hospitals, before focussing on full time general practice.
From 2003 to 2006 Dr Mary was Censor for Qld for the RACGP and has been a college examiner since 1996 and continues to work for the OSCE segment of the postgraduate examination process.
After 27 years practicing in Gympie and the surrounds, Dr Mary has opened Gympie Central Medical Centre with the aim of continuing to provide quality old fashioned medical care.
